5 Things To Know Before Getting Your Eyebrows Microbladed

So this week I got my eyebrows microbladed…it was magical.

For those of you that don’t know…“Microblading  is a form of semi-Permanent Makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments.” Microblading uses a hand-held-tool that looks like an X-ACTO knife. It puts pigment into the skin but doesn’t go as deep as a tattoo.

(Here’s my selfie after Tiffany made a guide on my face before she started)

I ‘m no microblading expert…but I did talk with my certified eyebrow magician, artist, miracle worker: Tiffany Nowlin.

I also did a little of my own research & compiled the 5 things I think you need to know before you make the move to effortless full brows.

1.Does It Hurt?

Yes. It might hurt. I personally didn’t think microblading hurt at all! I’m not a good judge of this one because I have a high pain tolerance. (None of my tattoos hurt & during pregnancy I walked right into the hospital because I didn’t “feel good” not realizing I was 8cm dilated) There is a sound involved that shook me at first…but after just a few minutes I tuned it out. Tiffany also used a numbing cream, and offered more if needed. You might just feel a little pressure and a scratching sensation.

2. It’s Not Permanent

So how long does it last? “This really depends on your skin type and how gentle or rough you are on your skin.”, says Tiffany. They should last between 12-24 months.

3. They Will Get Lighter

If you’re afraid your brows are too dark as you walk out of the salon, don’t panic. Tiffany let me know, “The first two days they will be the darkest. After the brows scab and heal they will be about 40% lighter.”

4. Aftercare Is Involved

Tiffany gave me some Vaseline to keep applying to my brows & some aftercare guidelines. No water, I can’t get my eyebrows wet for a few days. I’ve been really careful washing my face and hair. They will scab…don’t pick at it! I am about 48 hours out from my procedure and I don’t have any scabs. I’m kinda hoping they just don’t happen or camouflage in with the hairs! You do have to return to get a touch up about 4 weeks after, once they heal. I will also need to see Tiffany yearly or twice a year to keep up on them.

5. It Looks So Much More Natural Than It Sounds!

I know you’re thinking it…a processes that is usually explained as tattooed on eye brows sounds like it would be scary and intense, but it looks so real! Trust me, I seriously can’t stop looking at my brows. It looks like real hair!

Check out my before and after

Insane right? I am naturally a strawberry blonde. My eyebrows are almost non-existent before, they’re so light! I would seriously recommend microblading to anyone who appreciates a good eyebrow and is tired of filling them in or drawing them on everyday. When I got home the night I got my brows done, I was a different person. My confidence was through the roof. I laid down for bed and said “goodnight, I love you!” My husband responded, “goodnight, I love you too!” I said, “not you, I was talking to my eyebrows!”

I highly recommend Tiffany. Not only is she amazing, but her price right now is absolutely insane. Call her today to book your appointment before her prices go up!

They look fantastic. Had a little giggle about saying good night to your eyebrows and not your husband 😂 I’m booked to get mine done next month, are you still loving them 4 months on? I’d love to know x

I am still loving them! I get compliments all the time. One thing I did learn is there is a rough time during the healing process (3-4 days) They look crazy while they’re scabbing. Don’t worry, don’t stress! It’ll all be worth it!
