Okay, so does anyone else deal with smelly summer kid feet? The boys typically wear the old navy basic summer sandals (never really had smelly feet with those) This summer we got Jax the more hiking wet/dry sandals to give him more support (he is having some issues with his legs—more info to come on that, we still have more appointments to go to) well these amazing, supportive shoes brought smelly toes…like clear a room smelly.
We got these Oshkosh sandals at Meijer for his birthday.
I know this problem is with all sandals this style, and not just this shoe. They are machine washable so I thought no problem right? Wrong. They were still dirty inside and brought on the smell the next day. So I decided to step it up a notch and get down to business.
Here’s what I did to help tremendously:
Soaked the shoes in a sink full of hot water and gain laundry detergent (yea the water turned that brown ? this is after soaking for about an hour)
Took a tooth brush to the inside of the shoes and got to scrubbing:
^^^ the comparison of scrubbing vs soaking alone.
So there you have it: a solution to those smelly feet. Quick and pretty simple. I’ll keep you posted on how long until I have to do this again!
I hope this helps you guys out dealing with this smelly feet issue. I know my boys are only 4 and 6 and this is just the beginning for us. I hear it gets worse and there’s not much you can do about it! Until then, I’ll be scrubbing sandals lol
(Stay tuned for a new post coming at you on ways to recycle and reuse your toothbrushes!)
Xoxo
